The Science Behind SteadCalm™

SteadCalm™ pairs CBG (cannabigerol) with a water-soluble Vitamin E carrier. Vitamin E is an essential nutrient that supports healthy nerve structure and function. This page summarizes the published research on CBG as a compound and the role Vitamin E plays in nerve health.

The studies summarized below describe research on CBG as a compound, not on this product. CBG’s biological properties have been examined in laboratory and animal models. The role of Vitamin E in supporting nerve cell health is well established in the nutrition literature.

How to Use This Page

Explore the published research on CBG as a compound, the role of Vitamin E in nerve health, and what topical formulation choices mean in practice. The research below is about CBG as a compound, not about this product.

CBG vs CBD

Both are non-intoxicating cannabinoids commonly used in topical products. They’re often discussed differently in research and formulation. This comparison is meant to help customers understand positioning, not to imply medical outcomes.

Why CBG is our focus

  • Often positioned for “clarity + precision” in topical routines
  • Fits a localized, nerve-first product philosophy
  • Pairs well with application formats designed for control

Where CBD often shows up

  • More widely used across topical wellness categories
  • Commonly positioned for general calm and comfort
  • May be included in broader blends and recovery products
Educational & Research Note

Current research on cannabinoids and peripheral signaling pathways is still evolving. This page summarizes concepts discussed in scientific literature and is intended for educational purposes only. SteadCalm™ products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

More CBG products in development

We are starting deliberately small. The SteadCalm™ Micellar CBG Serum is our proof of concept, built around the published CBG research summarized on this page. If it resonates with our community, the line expands.

More CBG formats may follow as the product line grows.

Peer-Reviewed CBG Research

Published, peer-reviewed research on CBG as a compound, from Yale School of Medicine and Penn State College of Medicine. Shared here as ingredient education. These studies were conducted in laboratory and animal models, not on SteadCalm.

Nav1.8, an analgesic target for nonpsychotomimetic phytocannabinoids

CBG demonstrated the most potent inhibition of Nav1.8 sodium channels in peripheral sensory neurons among all cannabinoids tested (CBD, CBG, CBN). Nav1.8 is a pain-signaling pathway. The FDA validated this target by approving Suzetrigine (JOURNAVX) in January 2025, the first oral Nav1.8 inhibitor for acute pain.

In this in-vitro study, CBG showed the most potent inhibition of Nav1.8 sodium channels among the cannabinoids tested. This is laboratory research on CBG as a compound, not a study of SteadCalm.

Chronic Cannabigerol as an Effective Therapeutic for Cisplatin-Induced Neuropathic Pain

In this animal study, CBG administered for 7 and 14 consecutive days reduced neuropathic pain behaviors by 60 to 70% versus baseline (p < 0.001), with effects lasting 24+ hours after the last dose. The authors reported no tolerance and no significant weight change or adverse events in males or females.

“These findings support the study of CBG as a long-lasting neuropathic pain therapy which acts without tolerance in both males and females.”

CBG Attenuates Mechanical Hypersensitivity from Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

In this animal study, CBG reduced neuropathic pain behaviors in both male and female subjects. The authors reported CBG was specifically anti-nociceptive for neuropathic pain rather than other pain types (persistent, thermal), via CB1, CB2, and alpha-2 adrenergic receptor engagement. A 1:1 CBG:CBD combination was more effective than CBG alone.

Third-Party Lab Verified

Why SteadCalm CBG Serum?

Independent particle analysis (Malvern Panalytical, October 2025) measured the CBG particles in SteadCalm at approximately 7 nanometers. Published skin-science research describes particle-size thresholds for how topicals interact with skin: the smallest particles (roughly 4 to 20 nm) are described as able to permeate both intact and damaged skin, while larger particles generally require a carrier. SteadCalm's measured particle size falls within that smallest range, dispersed evenly through a water-soluble base that is non-greasy and absorbs quickly.
